Updated TOL Blog Layout

I finally came around to updating the TOL blog in its appearance. Was trying out the new template designer and decided to come up with a new header too. Took me a couple hours to get this effect cause I've never tried it before. Was trying to copy the Harry Potter title effect.. Hehe.. Everything was created from scratch, except the stone-y texture.

Dell Phones and Tablets

Dell has announced or leaked out quite a few phones and tablets. They may be late in the smartphone race but I would say that the phones are looking really cool with the slim form factor and their customised Stage UI and now with the new Flash 10.1 for mobile phones, you can watch videos on the phone. Most of the phones and tablets will be out towards the later part of this year. This may just make me want to switch back to a touchscreen phone. ^.^

Samsung Phone Multitasks 62 Apps

Multitasking seem to be the topic nowadays for phones, especially since iPhones can now multitask with the new iPhone OS 4.0. Earlier this year, Palm Pre Plus came forward with their WebOS and showed the world that their phone can handle 50 apps running simultaneously.

Just as we're wow-ing at that feat, along came Samsung and the i8910 HD (Omnia HD), with a little help of a custom ROM, managed to blow everyone away with a stunning 62-apps multitasking with only 256MB RAM.. And the best part is that the phone is still running relatively smoothly, considering that 62-apps are running, when at the moment most phones and even computers cannot even run properly with this number of programs open and the iphone can't even open 2 apps at the same time.

3D Movies at Singapore Discovery Centre

I went to watch Clash of the Titans in 3D at the Singapore Discovery Centre.
Why?
1) $7 ticket everyday, compared to $10 - $12 at GV and Cathay.
2) 5 storey-high screen
3) Most comfortable 3D technology (RealD compared to Dolby 3D)
4) Empty cinema
5) Free parking
NB: Only Shaw Lido and CCK and Singapore Discovery Centre, uses RealD tech to showcase 3D movies in Singapore. Unlike GV and Cathay, which uses Dolby 3D, RealD uses circular polarisation to bring out the 3D effects, so the 3D glasses are much lighter and more comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and the images are not dimmed too much.

At the end of it, I say its worth the money to watch a full length 3D movie at SDC cause of the reasons above, although the projection was slightly dimmer than I thought was comfortable. The cheap $7 ticket for a 3D movie, regardless of which day you watch, is really attractive. But of course, with that amount of money only, don�t expect top notch quality stuff, though it decent enough for most people. The only drawback I say is that you cant book tickets in advance, but the cinema is rarely half full anyway.

Tumblr

In addition to my Facebook, Twitter and Blogger accounts, I'm now on Tumblr.

It's a cross between Twitter and Blogger. It allows "following" and "tweets" like twitter and blogging, video and photo sharing like blogger. Tumblr has nice and simple themes and handles micro blogging very well..

So... I'm goin to ditch Twitter and leave Blogger for long posts, everything else will be on Tumblr. ^.^
